Born in 1971 in Freiburg/Breisgau, Chris is now living and working in Berlin as a professional drummer and freelance drum teacher. For more than 30 years, Chris has been an active part of the rock and pop music scene in Germany as a drummer and percussionist.
After a classical music education and seminars at the Future Music School in Aschaffenburg, Chris attended workshops and master classes with Gary Chaffee, Udo Dahmen, Gregg Bisonette, Thomas Lang, René Kremer, Claus Hessler and several more.
Chris took part in numerous touring, TV appearances and studio recordings with bands such as Tom Lüneburger, Mariannenplatz, Joachim Deutschland, Leichtmatrose, Rocky Horror Show, Jamilia, Stefan Krawczeck, Peter Wiegand, Beat Olympic, Silly, The Voice of Germany, Boviy, Berliner Ensemble, Schmitt/Heiny and many more.
Chris founded the internationally renowned drum trio “Playmobeat” who went viral on Youtube with their music videos. His twenty-year long engagement with the Blue Man Group took him to Oberhausen, Stuttgart, Basel, Zurich, Stockholm, Vienna and Berlin.
Chris is a very versatile and musical drummer who not only provides a solid technical foundation for his students but also aims for specifically directing them towards playing in a Band.
His current engagements include German Pop artist “Bosse” and his own Drums&Percussion duo “Max Klaas & Chris Heiny “.
